This panel, hosted by the research team from the Rural Shrink-Smart Initiative, will start with an overview of strategies that have been successful in some rural Iowa towns for improving residents’ perceptions of quality of life. The researchers will be joined by representatives of three rural Iowa towns where the quality of life has improved even as populations have been stagnant or shrinking. These community members will share specific examples of projects and initiatives that have had positive impacts in their towns and offer advice to communities with similar challenges and goals.
